Hotel Policies

We know, we know… rules ruin everything. But without a few simple guidelines and policies, chaos quickly sets in. Do your part to preserving world order by keeping these guidelines in mind when booking your stay at Unscripted Durham. ​​

Check-In Policies

Guests must be 21 years or older with photo identification to reserve a room. Acceptable forms of identification include a driver’s license, passport, and proof-of-age card. Photo identification must also match the name that is on the reservation.​ ​

Guarantee Rules

Your reservation is being held by the credit card provided at the time of booking. 100% of the first night may be authorized on the card at any time prior to check in. Your credit will be charged a cancellation fee if you do not check in at the Hotel on the scheduled arrival day or if you do not cancel your reservation in accordance with the cancellation policy on your reservation.​

Cancellations, Changes, and Early Departures

Reservation cancellation and changes policies depend on the type of reservations made. Please reference these policies on the rate details and policies page on the booking window when making reservations.  Post reservation confirmation changes to your arrival date, departure date, or room type are subject to the Hotel’s availability at the time the modification is requested and may change the rate and/or require payment of cancellation fees. Rates reserved are based on check-in date and length of stay. Should you depart early before the departure date confirmed for any reason, the Hotel may impose an early departure fee.​

Rate Rules/Restrictions

Rates are confirmed in US Dollars unless otherwise specified in your e-mail confirmation details. Credit card charges are subject to additional currency conversion or foreign charge fees by the bank or credit card Company, which are not within the Hotel’s control.​  All special offers and promotions are marked as such. If they are not labeled as such, you cannot derive any rights in the event of obvious errors or mistakes​.  Rates confirmed are for the number of occupants listed in your e-mail confirmation, per room, per night and do not include additional charges for rollaway beds or extra people and will apply only to rooms booked as part of this reservation. Tour and package rates vary according to the features of the specific package or program offered at the hotel. The applicable charges for the packages confirmed are indicated in your e-mail confirmation details. Applicable taxes, service charges, and value added tax (VAT), if applicable, will be added to the hotel bill unless indicated as a package feature. The taxes, service charges and value added tax shown on your e-mail confirmation are those currently in effect. Taxes, service charges, etc. are subject to change without notice according to local law.​​

Payment Options

Upon arrival, we require a valid credit card or debit card in the name of the registered guest along with a photo ID of the registered guest. The card will be authorized at check-in for the estimated amount of your entire stay (room, destination fee, an amount for incidentals, plus applicable taxes). It may take 72 hours or longer after check-out for your bank to release the credit hold on your account. The Hotel is not responsible for overdraft charges incurred due to the hold.​  Accepted currency: U.S. Dollar.

Early Check-In / Late Checkout

Guaranteed hotel check-in time is any time after 3:00 PM and check-out is 12:00 PM. Early check-in may be extended, based on availability, for an additional fee that may vary depending on the time of day. The late checkout fee varies, depending on the time of day. If a room is not available upon early arrival or we cannot extend your requested late checkout, our staff will be happy to securely store your luggage on your behalf.​​

Parking

For your convenience, there is a public garage attached to the hotel. This garage is privately owned and operated. The current hourly public rate is $2.50 and the daily public rate is $25. The nightly rate for hotel guests is also $25.00 but billed through the hotel and includes in/out privileges.

The City of Durham operates additional nearby parking options including the Chapel Hill Street Garage, located one block behind the Unscripted at the intersection of Chapel Hill St. and Rigsbee Ave. The current weekday hourly rate is $2.25 and the maximum daily rate is $24.75. Weekday evenings (7PM-8AM) and weekends (7PM Friday - 8AM Monday) parking is free.

Street parking is also available in the area for shorter trips, with most spaces operating under a 2-hour time limit during weekdays (Monday-Friday) from 8am-7pm.  These metered spaces are $2.50 per hour. Parking is free on weekends and after 7pm on weekdays.

Smoking Policy

Smoking and/or vaping is not permitted anywhere in the Hotel, including in guest rooms, public spaces, The Patio or The Studio, or in the attached parking garage. There will be a minimum $250 cleaning charge assessed if it is determined that there was smoking in the guest room during your reservation period.​​

Pet Policy

Unscripted Durham is pet friendly and limits pets to two (2) household dogs with a combined weight not to exceed 75 pounds with the following required fee: 1-3 nights: $50 non-refundable fee, 3-6 nights: $75 non-refundable fee, 7-30 nights: $100 non-refundable fee. Pets may not be left unattended at any time. ​ Service animals are exempt from pet policies and from any pet deposit charge or fee that is in place. If you have specific questions about staying with your pet or service animal, please reach out to us directly.​​

Pool Policy

The Patio (pool deck, restaurant, and bar) is open to the public during seasonal restaurant and bar operational hours.  When the restaurant and bar are not open, The Patio is restricted to registered hotel guests only.   For non-registered hotel guests, The Patio access is restricted to adults 21 years of age or older. Individuals under 21, who are guests of the hotel, are welcome on the patio if accompanied by an adult, who is over 21,  and must wear a hotel-provided wrist band.

To enhance your experience, a daily destination fee of $14.99 (subject to change) is applied to each night of your stay in order to provide the following services and amenities. Please contact the hotel directly for more information.
